WOODLAND VOLUNTEERING

To ready the north side woodland area for a new walkway, Carlton Towers welcomed a group of enthusiastic volunteers to help out.

The six volunteers along with Farming Assistant Nico, cleared the space of litter, debris, broken fencing and tree guards. The walk will provide a new way to explore the grounds and learn more about the woodland. This has also made fantastic progress towards the estate’s regenerative farming efforts. With future plans to move the pigs into the space, giving them a new place to roam and take care of unruly vegetation.

After their hard work in the woodlands, they relaxed outside our Stables Tearoom in the sunshine. Enjoying fresh coffee and refreshments made on site. Lord Gerald also joined them to talk all things farming and to thank them for their efforts. To end their day, the group were then taken on a tour of the Carlton Towers Farm and grounds - Meeting our Longhorn cows and calves, as well as the pigs. Then a celebratory pint in the local brewery next door.

Thank you Porterkabin team!

Interesting in volunteering at Carlton Towers?

We always have something happening on the estate, with 250 acres of parkland to upkeep. Volunteer days are a fantastic way to come together as a team and make progress towards the same goal. These activities are also great for mental health and to strengthen team relationships.

Carlton Towers

Carlton Towers is an exquisite stately home in North Yorkshire with a long and distinguished history.

It's not a monument. It is a real home, the family home of Lord and Lady Gerald Fitzalan-Howard. And it’s the family at Carlton Towers, our whole estate team, that brings the family seat to life for our guests and makes every visit exceptional.
