RETURN OF THE BEES

Carlton Towers is bringing back its half day Beekeeping Experience courses due to popular demand with a series of fun and informative workshops planned for the summer.

The stately home has teamed up with local Yorkshire apiarists MI Honey to hold the workshops within the beautiful parkland estate. Participants can learn about what it entails to keep bees and why they are important to the environment.

Taking place on a series of dates starting in June, they can don bee suits and get up close to bee hives, learning about how they can help to save bees and understand more about the structure of hives and the role of beekeepers.

The courses are led by Cristina of MI Honey, based in Yorkshire. In an introductory talk over light refreshments, she will explain what’s involved with beekeeping and why bees are kept on the estate. This is followed by a visit to the estate’s beehives for a hands-on interactive demonstration. Bee suits and equipment are provided for all participants on the day.

A delicious light lunch platter with refreshments, concludes the experience day in the Old Servants Quarter Cooks Kitchen.

Introduction to Beekeeping course dates - Saturday 29 June, Sunday 14 July, Friday 23 August, Course duration - 10am - 2pm.
