TIME FOR TEA
Sip tea from china cups while savouring the magnificence of the state rooms at Carlton Towers stately home in Yorkshire. No wonder ‘Historic Tea & Tours’ at the venue are often sold out. Guests booking one of the guided tours will learn about the fascinating history of the current home of Lord and Lady Fitzalan Howard. They will tour the state bedrooms and view the unique Priest’s Hiding Hole together with the historic kitchens featuring the original black ovens dating back to World War II when Carlton Towers served as an auxiliary hospital. The tour concludes with a home-made cream tea prepared by Carlton Towers chefs in one of the stunning state rooms.
‘Historic Tea & Tours’ are held regularly throughout the year at selected times and cost £25 per person.
If you prefer a little less walking you can opt for ‘A Spring Afternoon or High Tea’, in one of the state rooms. Starting at £28 per person the feast includes finger sandwiches, fresh scones and homemade cakes all created from locally sourced ingredients. The High Tea includes additional savouries and a glass of champagne and costs £42 per person. Both are available on 21 April between 1 and 4pm.
